21 Days to a Greener You - Day 19

Grow your own

So, are you going to compost? If you are, you might like to put it to good use. Now this may be a bit daunting for some, but gardening doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to be an expert gardener to grow your own herbs, fruits, and vegetables. All you need are a few pots or a small garden bed, but if your game for more set up a veggie patch.

Growing your own means you have fresh and healthy food on hand, while reducing your carbon footprint. If you grow organically, you are also reducing the impact of chemicals on the environment. Believe me there is a bit of work and planning involved, like figuring out where and what you want to grow, where to position the pots/garden, the condition of the soil, your climate, etc. However, it can be incredibly satisfying to grow your own, producing healthy foods, while giving you the other health benefits of fitness, being outdoors and getting stress relief from gardening. And not forgetting the savings you will be making from growing your own. Why not start with some potted herbs?

If you are game for more:

Want to learn about gardening? Why not join a community gardening group? Or if you are already a skilled gardener, then share your passion for gardening with others. Gardening with others is a great way to get to know your community and to share skills.

We are coming near the end of this 21 days to a Greener You? How are you going? Have learned a lot? We would love to hear from you, so don't be afraid to comment below.

Attracta & the earthly passion team.
