I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU

Tonight's blog is a short one, but I think it is an important one. I have been thinking about what holds people back from making the steps to being eco-friendly. I know there can be many things that can influence people and they can be wide and varied.

So what has being holding you back from making the change to being eco-friendly? If you have made some changes, why can't you go further? I think I know some of the reasons.

Lifestyle - are you afraid your lifestyle will change? Do you think to be eco-friendly you need to be a tree hugging hippy? I love and respect those guys, but I also know it is not the life for everyone. Over the years you have worked hard to get the house you want, the car of your dreams and accumulate what we desired. Yes, you have bought stuff that is not sustainable, not eco-friendly or biodegradable, but that doesn't mean that you have to suddenly give it all up. We had done the same thing, buying without much thought, but gradually we have changed without any huge affect on our lifestyle. Being eco-friendly doesn't mean that you have to suddenly give it all up. It is all about making the change gradually, so it becomes a habit you can live with, otherwise you will not do it at all. Start with one thing and go from there.

What will it cost - eco-friendly products are more expensive? To be honest, they were a few years ago, but as more and more people are being more conscious about what they buy, the price of eco-friendly products are becoming cheaper. In fact, the range of products has improved.

What will I have to give up - "I will have to get rid of a lot of stuff as it is not eco-friendly". No you won't. If you have stuff that you use over and over again, then it is not adding to the waste in landfill, but now that you have started thinking about an eco-friendly lifestyle. become a conscious consumer. Buy less stuff or buy items that won't add to the waste and pollution in our environement.

I can't give up my devices - "all my devices are energy zapping devices", but have you thought about a better way to charge them or use them less. Sometimes we go about using things without little thought. Even changing to an energy provider that uses renewable energy is a change in the right direction.

It is too hard to locate eco-friendly items - as I said earlier more and more eco-friendly products are becoming available. People are being very innovative and are ensuring products are sustainable, organic and as natural as possible. The more we shop these type of products the more manufacturers will make them available, as they fill the need and reduce production of anything that is not making money.

Okay, you have seen my thoughts. Has any of these reasons held you back? Or is it something else? Tell us why. We want to hear from you and maybe, even help you out. So don't be afraid to give us a shout.

Have an earthly passionate weekend,

Attracta & the earthly passion team
